THE EAST COUNTY UNDERGROUND, hosted by Steve Hunyar, has been officially sunsetted by it's host. After over 3 years and 120 shows, Steve decided it was time to move on and concentrate on other things in his life.
"I want to express my deepest thanks to the MY 1079 FM station owners for giving me this platform to espouse my personal beliefs for these many years. To allow me to have this forum to voice my opinions - unfettered and unadulterated.
I would like to also thank the guests I have had on the program. I appreciate your time and efforts.
I want to thank my wife Linda, and my children Jacqueline and Jason for their patience and their affirmation of my doing this for so long. Linda is my guiding force and my light. My children - my hope for the future. And they are off to a great start in life. We alI leave America in their capable hands.
And, I want to thank you. I will close and simply say this. Stay faithful. Stay vigilant. Never give up. God has a plan.

Steve was born to Hungarian emigrant parents who escaped Communism in 1957 to come to the United States to regain their freedom and seek a better life. Born and raised in Southern California and college educated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Steve moved to San Diego in 1981 and married Linda in 1984. For the past 20 years, they have lived in Alpine with their 11th grade twins.
Steve is an avid snow skier, mountain biker, plays drums, and became a private pilot in 2010.
